QEval New UI User Manual

New Device Login Alert

The New Device Login Alert is a security feature in QEval designed to protect the user’s account from unauthorized access.

Whenever a user’s account is accessed from a new or unrecognized device, QEval automatically sends an email notification to the user.

This notification enables the user to quickly verify whether the login attempt was legitimate or to take immediate action to secure the account if it was not.

Why the User Receives This Alert

The user will receive this email when any of the following conditions are met:

  • The user (or someone else) logs into the QEval account from a new device or browser.

  • The login is successful after authentication.

  • The device used is not recognized by QEval’s system.

Examples:

  • The user logs in from a new laptop or mobile device.

  • The user uses a different web browser or clears cookies on the usual device.

  • Someone attempts to access the user’s account from a different location.

What the Alert Email Looks Like

When this feature is triggered, the user will receive an email with the subject line:

Security Alert: New Device Login Detected for QEval

The email includes the following information:

  • The QEval logo and a security alert banner for quick identification
  • A personalized greeting, such as “Hi [User Name]”
  • A notification message stating: “We detected a new login to your account from a device we don’t recognize.”
  • A Login Details Table providing key information, including:
    • Location: City, State/Country
    • Device Type: e.g., Windows PC, iPhone, etc.
    • Browser: e.g., Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari
    • Date & Time: When the login occurred.

What the User Should Do

If the user recognizes the login:

  • No further action is required.
  • The user can safely disregard the email and continue using the QEval account as usual.

If the user does not recognize the login:

  1. Click the Reset Password button.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the password immediately.
  3. Choose a strong and unique password that has not been used for other accounts.
  4. For enhanced security, the user is advised to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

Note: The password reset link is valid for 24 hours only, so it is important to complete the process promptly.

Security Tips

To help maintain account security, users are encouraged to:

  • Use a strong, unique password and avoid reusing passwords from other accounts.

  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for additional protection.

  • Regularly review devices that have access to the QEval account.
